A former Clemson star has developed into one of the NFL’s top players at his position, and he is now getting paid like it.

Last week, the New York Giants made Dexter Lawrence the third highest-paid defensive tackle in the league, giving him a four-year, $90 million contract extension that includes $60 million guaranteed.

On ESPN’s NFL Live, Mina Kimes gave her reaction to Lawrence’s new deal, calling it “an absolute no-brainer.”

“This is an absolute no-brainer for New York,” Kimes said. “… He’s on the field a lot, he takes over games, he’s become a cornerstone of this franchise. So this, to me, was an obvious decision.”

The 25-year-old Lawrence and 2019 first-round pick was a Pro Bowler and All-Pro last season in his fourth NFL campaign, when he posted career highs with 7.5 sacks, 28 quarterback hits, 68 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, three pass breakups and two forced fumbles.
