Clemson will be short-handed on the offensive line against Florida State on Saturday.
The Clemson Insider has learned that starting right guard Walker Parks will not play in Saturday’s game versus the fourth-ranked Seminoles. Parks’ injury issues dates back to the “Bennie Bowl” before the season started when Parks was in a boot.
In the season opener, Parks played but had his left foot was heavily wrapped and padded. Parks recorded 73 snaps against Duke that night, and then 50 more against Charleston Southern the following week. The senior offensive lineman missed the Florida Atlantic game, so this will be his second consecutive absence.
After practice on Wednesday, Swinney told the media that Parks was limited in practice.
“He’s lower body. He did practice [Tuesday] and kind of held him a little bit today. So as I said, he’s been kind of day-to-day,” Swinney said at the time.
Mitchell Mayes is expected to get his second consecutive start at right guard for the Tigers. Mayes played 43 snaps in the place of Parks against FAU. He also played 31 snaps against Duke and 29 snaps against Charleston Southern.
Clemson and FSU will kick off at noon on Saturday. The game will be televised on ABC.
