First Clemson Visit Impresses Standout In-State QB

A standout in-state signal-caller traveled to Tiger Town for the first time recently.

Fairfield Central High School (Winnsboro, S.C.) class of 2026 quarterback Cameron McMillon came away impressed after his unofficial visit to Clemson for the Sept. 23 game vs. Florida State.

“I enjoyed it. It was nice,” McMillon told The Clemson Insider. “Outside the facilities looked nice, the stadium looked nice. Amazing coaches. Very good hospitality.”

The 6-foot-2, 187-pound sophomore was accompanied on the visit by his mother and younger brother.

“They both loved it,” McMillon said. “My brother loved it because he just likes watching football, he just loves being there. My mom liked it because she said it was a good atmosphere, people were really nice and weren’t hostile.”

Not only was it McMillon’s first visit to Clemson, but it was also his first experience at a college football game, and the atmosphere at Death Valley didn’t disappoint.

“For my first time coming to a college game, that was very good. I loved it,” he said. “It seemed like a rivalry game, how loud they were. But it was good. I liked it.”

McMillon also liked the vibe he felt from Clemson’s staff while being around the coaches.

“When I was checking in, the coaches, they seemed cool, they seemed really relaxed and chill about me being there, me in their presence,” he said.

McMillon had a stellar freshman season last year, throwing for 3,319 yards and 33 touchdowns with only 10 interceptions while leading Fairfield Central to the third round of the AA state playoffs.

“I would consider myself a very humble quarterback,” McMillon said, describing what he’s like as a QB. “I’m not much of a talker as most other quarterbacks, but I am a good on-field leader.”

“I would call myself a pocket passer,” he added, “but can get out the pocket when he needs to.”

Marshall gave McMillon his first offer back in February, and plenty more offers figure to come his way moving forward if he continues to perform like he did last season.

How big would a future Clemson offer be for the talented in-state prospect?

“It would mean a lot, being from South Carolina and Clemson being one of, if not the top school in South Carolina,” he said. “So, that would mean a lot to me if Clemson offered.”
