Following Saturday’s 17-12 win over Wake Forest, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney provided an update on a starting defensive back who missed the game.
Swinney explained why fifth-year senior cornerback Sheridan Jones did not play against the Demon Deacons, with Swinney saying he didn’t learn until after Tiger Walk approximately two hours before the game that Jones was out.
“He just started having some headaches and was feeling kind of sick and nauseous on the bus ride over,” Swinney said. “His head was hurting and he couldn’t even hardly look into the sun. So, they took him to evaluate him and run some tests on him. That’s really all I know right now.”
Jones started each of the Tigers’ first five games prior to Saturday. The 6-foot, 190-pounder posted three tackles (one for loss) at Duke before recording two tackles and a pass breakup vs. Charleston Southern. He then tallied two tackles vs. Florida Atlantic before adding six tackles vs. Florida State and two more tackles at Syracuse.
