CLEMSON — It was certainly a sleepy start for Clemson offensively against Wake Forest on Saturday at Death Valley.
But after two three-and-outs, as well as a lost fumble, the Tigers’ offense finally woke up on its fourth possession with a lengthy go-ahead scoring drive.
Quarterback Cade Klubnik scampered into the end zone for a 7-yard touchdown run, capping a 16-play, 75-yard drive that gave Clemson a 7-3 lead at the 10:18 mark of the second quarter.
The drive, which spanned more than seven minutes, was sustained by a key fourth-and-5 conversion from the Wake 30-yard line. Klubnik hit wide receiver Beaux Collins for a 10-yard completion to keep possession, and Klubnik found the end zone three plays later.
