Brownell updates multiple injuries as Clemson approaches season

The Clemson Tigers men’s basketball team is less than a month away from the season opener in Littlejohn Coliseum, and head coach Brad Brownell gave an update on injuries as practices continue.

It’s a mix of good and bad news for the Tigers, and Brownell detailed the health of three players. Here’s the full details on “bumps and bruises” from the Clemson coach.

Graduate transfer forward Jack Clark has only been able to “shoot a few shots” and finally started running recently. Brownell said he’s really hoping for Clark to be ready and able to play.

“Jack Clark is is going to start moving closer towards practice, he still has not been able to get healthy with his second surgery,” Brownell said.

Sophomore guard Josh Beadle suffered an injury away from basketball and Brownell detailed his status moving forward.

“Some people know Josh Beadle, unfortunately, was in a car accident last week. And you know, it’s lucky that it wasn’t worse than it was. But he did suffer a broken nose and a concussion. And so, he’s gonna be out a couple more weeks probably. He needs to have surgery next week, so that’s a little bit of a setback,” Brownell said.

Graduate guard Alex Hemenway is in a good spot according to Brownell. The fifth-year Tiger has eased his way back during the preseason and Clemson feels confident about his status for the season.

“Alex Hemenways doing much better. You know, close to 90%, I would say in terms of, of health and movement. Then there’s just some nagging things that come with kind of getting back at it every day,” Brownell said.

As the season approaches, Brownell emphasized depth and that will mitigate the injuries for the Tigers early on. Clemson opens the season Nov. 6, taking on Winthrop at 7 p.m.
