Bad news for Miami ahead of Saturday’s matchup against Clemson:
Hurricanes starting quarterback Tyler Van Dyke has a right-leg injury, according to Susan Miller Degnan, a Miami football beat writer for The Miami Herald.
Degnan reported that Van Dyke, who was sacked three times and took some hard hits in last Saturday’s game against North Carolina, “was seen on campus Monday with his right leg wrapped in an ace bandage all the way up to above his knee,” and that he “was limping and keeping the leg completely stiff as he walked.”
On Monday, Miami head coach Mario Cristobal was asked about Van Dyke’s injury.
“I don’t talk about injuries,” Cristobal said. “I just told one of our guys that he’s ready to go. So, you have to write what you have to write, and next question.”
Van Dyke has completed 70.5 percent of his passes for 1,721 yards and 16 touchdowns with six interceptions this season.
Saturday’s game between the Hurricanes (4-2, 0-2 ACC) and Tigers (4-2, 2-2) at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla., is set to kick off at 8 p.m. on ACC Network.
