Swinney ‘Really Excited’ to Get Key Weapon Back This Week
By: Gavin Oliver October 18, 2023

Dabo Swinney is certainly happy that his team will have one of its top offensive weapons back in action this weekend.

Following Wednesday’s practice, Clemson’s head coach spoke about Antonio Williams as the sophomore wide receiver is set for his return to the field on Saturday at Miami.

Williams has missed the Tigers’ last three games after suffering an ankle injury against Florida Atlantic on Sept. 16.

“I’m really excited,” Swinney said of getting Williams back against the Hurricanes. “Again, it’s been a long three games not having one of our best players out there. So, he’s excited, we’re excited. It’s obviously been a while since he’s played a game, but just glad to get him back going for sure.”

Swinney said the 5-foot-11, 195-pound slot receiver was full go in practice last week for the first time in quite some time.

“He was close the Wake game, but just not quite there,” Swinney said. “But last week, he was able to kind of make another jump where he needed to be.”

Williams – Clemson’s leading receiver as a true freshman in 2022 with 56 catches for 604 yards – has recorded 15 receptions for 145 yards and two touchdowns across the three games he’s played in so far this season.
