MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Clemson will be without this key defensive weapon in tonight’s game at Miami.
Starting defensive end Xavier Thomas will miss the game against the Hurricanes at Hard Rock Stadium, The Clemson Insider has confirmed.
Thomas is out due to a non-injury situation. Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney will address Thomas’ absence following the game.
Sources have told The Clemson Insider that Thomas is serving a one-game suspension for a violation of team rules, and he will not be available to the media after the game. He is expected to be back next week.
We can tell you that Thomas found out Thursday that he would have to miss tonight’s game.
A sixth-year veteran, Thomas has started each of Clemson’s six games so far this season, tallying 13 tackles (three for loss), two sacks, a pass breakup and seven quarterback pressures.
In addition, TCI reported earlier Saturday that another important defensive piece, true freshman defensive lineman Peter Woods, was in a walking boot ahead of tonight’s game.
Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. and will be televised on ACC Network.
