Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney had a message for Tiger fans following his team’s gut-wrenching, 28-20 loss at Miami in double overtime on Saturday night.

“All I can say is man, I’m sorry to our fans because they certainly deserve better,” Swinney said. “But as a team, again, what we want you have to deserve, and we didn’t deserve to win the game. So, until we get some of those things fixed, we’re going to be in a battle every single week.”

Coming off two straight losses and missing its starting quarterback, Tyler Van Dyke, Miami (5-2, 1-2 ACC) still rallied from a 10-point deficit against Clemson (4-3, 2-3) in the fourth quarter at Hard Rock Stadium, snapping a four-game losing streak to the Tigers during which the Hurricanes had lost those games by an average of 37 points.

Swinney’s team will try to bounce back from the brutal loss next Saturday when Clemson travels to NC State (4-3, 1-2), which is coming off an open date.

Swinney sees much better times ahead for the Tigers and his starting quarterback, Cade Klubnik.

“We’ve got a really talented team, and we’ve got a lot of guys that are going to have a lot of great days ahead, no more than this quarterback,” Swinney said. “I mean, he’s had some unbelievable moments and he’s had some that we’ve gotta do a little better. So, you learn, you learn from the good, you learn from the bad. I’m not going to trade my guys. I love these guys. I’m in the pit with them. I’m right there with them.”
