CLEMSON — Clemson cornerback Sheridan Jones spoke to the media earlier this week to elaborate on his return to the field after missing the Wake Forest game due to severe headaches, the Tigers’ ability to adapt after another heartbreaking loss, and the effect the Tigers have had on the Clemson community.
–Back on the field after a week hiatus, the cornerback recorded his first interception of the season in Miami, as well as tallying five tackles (one for loss). Jones was asked about the headaches he suffered prior to the Wake Forest game that led to sophomore Toriano Pride Jr. replacing him. “It was just an off day and a freak accident. I was dealing with some blood sugar things and bad migraines, but definitely feeling better and it was great to get back out there on the field and compete this week, so I’m thankful for that.”
-The Clemson Tigers (4-3, 2-3 ACC) are taking the Miami loss hard. Although, players like Jones uphold the positive values that keep the team motivated to go forward. The cornerback discussed the feelings surrounding the game saying, “It definitely was a heartfelt loss – a physical, gruesome game. But we have a windshield mentality, where we don’t want to dwell on the past too much – onto the next week. We want to go out there every Saturday and just be the best team that we can be, playing for each other and going 1-0 each week.”
–Jones was asked about the last time the Tigers played NC State in Raleigh, a 27-21 double-overtime loss. “It was a hard-fought game for sure – they definitely did their thing, but we came out victorious last year and we plan to do that again this week.” He continued speaking on, “Always staying true to the standard that Clemson upholds.”
Clemson travels to Raleigh, N.C. on Saturday to face NC State. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. and will be televised on the CW Network.
