Tennessee QB Praises ‘Very Personable’ Clemson Experience

This standout signal-caller from the Volunteer State made a return visit to Tiger Town earlier this month.

Baylor School (Chattanooga, Tenn.) quarterback Briggs Cherry – a class of 2026 recruit with multiple power conference offers – traveled to Clemson for the Oct. 7 game vs. Wake Forest at Death Valley.

“It was very, very good. The visit was very personable, and the atmosphere of the game was crazy, especially after a win,” Cherry said. “I had a good time.”

Along with Homecoming, the Wake Forest game was Clemson’s Breast Cancer Awareness Game – certainly something relatable that meant a great deal to Cherry’s mother, who accompanied him on the visit.

“She’s a breast cancer survivor, so that game stood out and how Clemson treated this game stood out to her a lot,” he said.

A cool part of the visit experience for Cherry, a 6-foot-4, 197-pound sophomore, was getting to be in the locker room to hear Dabo Swinney’s pre- and post-game speeches to his team.

“He’s very real with his players, which I like,” Cherry said. “He’s a very, very good coach.”

The Wake Forest game marked Cherry’s second trip to Clemson, as he also made an unofficial visit for the NC State game last season.

“What stands out a lot about Clemson is their facilities for their football players,” he said. “They have their own whole section, and it’s just different how much stuff they’ve spent on things just for their football players. Also, what sets Clemson apart is their coaching staff. Coach (Tajh) Boyd and Coach (Will) Gilchrist, they were very personable with me and took time talking to me, and it felt like a very homey place.”

Cherry has collected several early offers, including ACC offers from Georgia Tech and Pittsburgh, and an SEC offer from Ole Miss.

Clemson won’t start offering 2026 recruits until next year, but Cherry is high on the Tigers and feeling a lot of love from them early in the recruiting process.

“After (the Wake Forest game) visit, how personable it was to me and my mom who went with me, they stand pretty high up on my schools right now,” he said. “It was their game to bring in all their top (2026 recruits), and thankfully I was one of them that they invited to come to the game.”
