Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has built up a strong resume now going through his third season in the NFL. He’s played in plenty of stadiums, but makes his debut at Pittsburgh’s Acrisure Stadium in Week 8.
Taking on the 4-2 Steelers and their defense is formidable on its own for the former Tiger and national champion, but the Pittsburgh Steelers faithful add an extra layer. With that comes the famous ‘Terrible Towels’ that layer the stadium in yellow throughout the game.
Lawrence was simply asked during the week about the tradition, and he gave a response that lit a fire under many Steelers fans.
”Little yellow towels,” Lawrence said.
Something that may seem so simple but Steelers fans don’t take lightly. Lawrence went on to say he’s excited to check a game in Pittsburgh “off the list” but the damage was already done.
Jacksonville sits at 5-2 as one of the best teams in the AFC, but Lawrence now has a target on his back before he makes the trip up north. It will be seen Sunday at 1 p.m. if the curse strikes him back for his comment or if he’ll be waving a towel on his own back to Jacksonville.
