On Friday’s edition of ACC Network’s ACC PM show, Mark Packer, EJ Manuel and Eric Mac Lain made their picks for today’s game between Clemson (4-3, 2-3 ACC) and NC State (4-3, 1-2).
Kickoff at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, N.C., is set for 2 p.m. on The CW Network. The Tigers are a 9.5-point favorite.
Packer, Manuel and Mac Lain all picked Clemson to win. Here’s what they had to say regarding their picks:
Packer: “Both these teams have struggled offensively. I think both defenses are probably licking their chops looking at the other guy. Clemson’s been in the red zone more than anybody else but they can’t score. I think this game is close, close, close, but Clemson still has a little bit better talent. I think that’s the difference in the game. But I expect this thing to be a knockdown, drag out, close football game. Somebody’s walking out of here 4-4.”
Manuel: “I’m looking at the front seven for Clemson, and I felt like Miami dominated them, especially in the second half, even into overtime last week. So, I’m sure Coach Swinney has gotten after those guys and say, ‘Hey, who are we gonna be? Who are we gonna be?’ … So, I like Tigers as well to respond.”
Mac Lain: “I just don’t know if NC State can replicate the game plan running the football that Miami did a week ago. I don’t think NC State has the horses to do that. We haven’t seen it all year, so I don’t know why there’d be a (superman) effort against Clemson. I do think it’s tight. I do think it’s uncomfortable probably for most of the game. But somehow, Clemson finds a way. I think Will Shipley has a big day, too. That game’s important for him. His entire family went to NC State. So, look out for that. But I think it’s close and uncomfortable.”
