Swinney Gives Injury Updates on Woods, Lukus

Along with giving the latest on star running back Will Shipley, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney provided a couple of other injury updates during his Zoom conference call with the media on Sunday evening.

True freshman defensive lineman Peter Woods did not make the trip to Raleigh for Saturday’s game at NC State, and Swinney said Woods did not travel due to an injury.

“Just wasn’t able to practice all week,” Swinney said.

Swinney doesn’t think it’s a long-term injury that Woods is dealing with.

“We’re hopeful he’ll be able to go this week,” Swinney said. “He’s day to day.”

Woods, a former five-star prospect from Alabaster, Ala., has recorded 11 tackles (one for loss) in seven games this season.

Swinney also updated the status of sophomore cornerback Jeadyn Lukus, who hasn’t played in the Tigers’ past two games against NC State and Miami. He traveled to Miami but didn’t travel to NC State.

Swinney said Lukus has been dealing with a hip issue but is “getting better.”

“We took him to Miami last week, but he didn’t feel like he could play, so we just kind of shut him down this week,” Swinney said. “So, we’ll test him out tomorrow and kind of see where he is. But I do think he’s made a little bit of improvement.”

A former five-star prospect from Mauldin, S.C., Lukus has played in six games for Clemson this season, making three starts. He has posted 10 tackles and three pass breakups.
