Clemson Among Schools Standing Out to 5-Star Ohio OL

A big-time offensive line prospect from the Buckeye State intends to reschedule a trip to Clemson after originally planning to visit this weekend.

Avon Lake (Ohio) five-star offensive tackle Maxwell Riley was planning to be in Death Valley for Saturday’s game vs. Notre Dame. However, Riley informed The Clemson Insider that due to the noon kickoff time, he won’t be able to make it in town.

Riley told TCI that he will now try to attend Clemson’s game against North Carolina on Nov. 18.

It would be the highly touted class of 2026 recruit’s first gameday visit to Clemson, but second overall trip to Tiger Town, as he visited back in June.

“When I was down there over the summer, I got to go into the stadium and they played a hype video, and that already gave me goosebumps,” Riley said. “I can only imagine what it’s going to be like [on game day].”

Riley is the No. 4 offensive tackle and No. 14 overall prospect in the country for the 2026 class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings.

The 6-foot-5, 270-pound sophomore has been able to keep in contact with Clemson offensive line coach Thomas Austin.

“I’ve been in touch with Coach Austin lately,” Riley said. “We mostly just chat it up about the season, and he gives me some good advice. He’s a great person and coach, it’s always great talking to him.”

Riley’s early offer list features around a dozen schools, including Florida State, Kentucky, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

Clemson hasn’t offered any 2026 recruits yet, but even without an offer, it’s already one of the schools standing out to Riley at this point in his recruitment.

“A few schools sticking out to me in this process are Clemson, OSU, FSU, Michigan and Penn State,” he said. “I love Clemson because of the emphasis they put on faith and family in the program. I’m just excited to get the full Death Valley experience!”

Riley has been to Penn State, Ohio State and Michigan so far this fall, and he plans to be in Tallahassee for Florida State’s game vs. Miami on Nov. 11 before hopefully making the Nov. 18 trip to Clemson.
