CLEMSON – The Clemson Tigers are dealing with a few key injuries, and one of them comes in the trenches of Wes Goodwin’s defense. Freshman defensive tackle Peter Woods missed the game against NC State, and Swinney gave an update on the frosh star Wednesday night.
Woods wasn’t able to practice at all during the week leading up to the Wolfpack and that’s why he didn’t make the trip to Raleigh. This week’s outlook is different, and there’s optimism he’ll be available against Notre Dame.
“He got back to practice this week. We are really encouraged by how he’s looked,” Swinney said.
Taking on the No. 15 fighting Irish, having Woods on the field will be crucial. Tyler Davis and Ruke Orhorhoro lead the way in the middle, but Woods’ disruption is one of the keys to Goodwin’s front. As of Wednesday, Woods is day-to-day, and his status may not be certain till Saturday.
