Swinney Gives Injury Updates After Notre Dame Game

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney provided a number of injury updates following Saturday’s 31-23 win over Notre Dame, including an update on a starting offensive lineman who did not play against the Fighting Irish.

Left guard Marcus Tate was out, and Swinney said the Tigers (5-4) could possibly get Tate back this season if they play in a bowl game.

“Maybe Marcus Tate for a bowl game if we can get to one. Maybe,” Swinney said.

Clemson was also without several other starters against Notre Dame, including running back Will Shipley, defensive end Justin Mascoll, safety Jalyn Phillips and cornerback Sheridan Jones.

“Shipley’s day to day and Mascoll’s day to day, and JP, Sheri,” Swinney said of the aforementioned players.

Swinney also said Clemson still hopes to get wide receiver Antonio Williams “back maybe at the very end” of the season. Williams hasn’t played since injuring his toe against Miami on Oct. 21 after returning from a three-game absence due to an ankle injury.
