4-star OL ‘Definitely Looking Forward’ to Clemson Return

This top offensive line prospect from the Peach State traveled to Clemson earlier this season, and he’s excited about the return trip he’s planning to Tiger Town soon.

Gainesville (Ga.) High School four-star tackle Alex Payne is eyeing another visit to Death Valley for the Nov. 18 game vs. North Carolina.

“Definitely looking forward to getting back on campus to connect with the coaches more,” Payne told The Clemson Insider, “plus the game will be a big ACC matchup.”

A 6-foot-5, 265-pound junior in the 2025 class, Payne previously visited Clemson for the Florida Atlantic game on Sept. 16.

It marked his first time on campus and first chance to experience the gameday atmosphere, including the Tigers’ famous pregame tradition.

“What stands out the most from my last visit was being able to go up The Hill and watch the team come down,” he said. “Definitely a highlight.”

Along with Clemson, Payne has been able to visit Georgia, North Carolina, Florida State, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Alabama, Georgia Tech and Duke during this season.

Clemson is one of the gameday visits that’s made the biggest impression on Payne, who is ranked as the nation’s No. 19 offensive tackle and the No. 180 overall prospect in the 2025 class.

“All of my visits have been great,” he said, “and the visits that have stood out the most (in no particular order) are Clemson, FSU, Duke, UGA and GT.”

Payne would love to eventually add Clemson to his offer list that already includes schools such as Baylor, Boston College, Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Penn State, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
