Swinney Gives Latest on Williams, Tate

On Tuesday, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney offered the latest on a couple of key offensive players who could potentially return to action by season’s end.

According to Swinney, the Tigers hope to get both sophomore wide receiver Antonio Williams and junior offensive guard Marcus Tate back on the field before the season is over.

“He’s just doing his rehab and all that. He’s still trending (in a positive direction), and we’re projecting him to hopefully get back at some point before the end of the year,” Swinney said of Williams.

“Same thing, if we can get to a bowl game, hopefully Marcus Tate’s a guy that maybe could be back for that. We’ll see how that works out.”

Tate, who started Clemson’s first eight games this season, was out for last week’s game against Notre Dame after injuring his knee in practice last week.

Williams hasn’t played since injuring his toe against Miami on Oct. 21, when he returned from a three-game absence due to an ankle injury.
