Trotter Earns Two National Player of the Week Honors

The Maxwell Football Club announced today that Clemson linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. has been named the Chuck Bednarik Award Player of the Week for his performance in Clemson’s 31-23 win against Notre Dame.

Additionally, The Football Writers Association of America announced today that Trotter has been named the Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Fighting Irish.

Against Notre Dame, Trotter recorded a game-high 11 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks and an interception, which he returned 28 yards for a touchdown. In doing so, he became only the fifth FBS player (and second Power Five player) since 2005 to post double-digit tackles, at least 2.5 tackles for loss, 2.0 or more sacks and a pick-six in a single game.

The Bronko Nagurski Trophy is a member of the National College Football Awards Association. Founded in 1997, the NCFAA includes college football’s most prestigious awards and its 24 awards have honored more than 900 recipients dating back to 1935. This season, 12 NCFAA awards will honor national players of the week each Tuesday.
