ESPN personality Paul Finebaum has been very vocal about Dabo Swinney and Clemson amid the team’s struggles this season, with Finebaum blasting Swinney after the loss to Miami and then calling Swinney and the Tigers “the saddest story in college football this year” following the loss to NC State.
Swinney’s team got back on track last Saturday and snapped the two-game losing skid with an upset win over Notre Dame at Death Valley. But even after the victory, Finebaum found a way to take another shot at Swinney.
On The Matt Barrie Show, Finebaum commented on Swinney firing back at Tyler of Spartanburg during the viral radio show exchange last week, as well as the quote from Swinney after the win over Notre Dame when Swinney said “if Clemson’s a stock, you better buy all you can freakin’ can buy right now!”
“I was entertained by that,” Finebaum said. “I was watching it on a plane and I’m like OK great, Dabo. You beat Notre Dame, which a lot of people expected you to do at home, and you should’ve done at home. And you beat down a caller to your radio show. You’ve had a great week. Go take a victory lap.”
Finebaum didn’t finish there, adding this remark to Swinney.
“And by the way, when we’re all at the College Football Playoff this year in Pasadena and New Orleans and later in Houston, you’ll be watching it on TV unless ESPN’s nice enough to bring you out there as an analyst,” Finebaum said.
