Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney held his post-practice media availability on Wednesday evening and gave the latest update on Will Shipley’s status.
Swinney said on Tuesday that the star running back was able to practice in a green (limited contact) jersey on Monday and was “trending back” ahead of Saturday’s game against Georgia Tech, and that Shipley would be in pads both Tuesday and Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Swinney was asked for an update on Shipley and how he looked at practice Wednesday.
“He looked good,” Swinney said. “He’s been able to go all week. So hopefully we’re trending in a good direction there.”
Shipley, who’s averaging 4.6 yards per carry this season, missed last week’s game vs. Notre Dame after taking a big hit to the head/neck area in the NC State game on Oct. 28. He entered concussion protocol and while no neck damage was found, he didn’t make enough progress to play against the Fighting Irish.
Shipley has 515 rushing yards for the season. The junior from North Carolina also has 120 receiving yards and five total touchdowns this season.
