Swinney Gives Injury Updates on Key Players

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney provided injury updates on some key players when he met with the media after his team’s 42-21 win over Georgia Tech on Saturday at Death Valley.

Sophomore cornerback Jeadyn Lukus did not play against the Yellow Jackets, and Swinney said he’s dealing with a hip injury.

“He’s still been battling his hip,” Swinney said. “He tried to practice this week and was going to try to go, just couldn’t quite do it.”

Swinney said that junior linebacker Barrett Carter rolled his ankle Wednesday night, and that’s why he ultimately wasn’t able to play against Georgia Tech.

Fifth-year senior cornerback Sheridan Jones missed his second straight game on Saturday, while fifth-year senior safety Jalyn Phillips missed his second game in a row as well.

According to Swinney, it’s possible those three players could return for Clemson’s game against North Carolina next Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

“Sheridan, JP, we’ll see where they are. I don’t know, but we’ll see,” Swinney said. “Hopefully Barrett, it’d be nice to get him back.”
