Wiggins Credits Death Valley for Last Two Wins

CLEMSON – Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins spoke to the media following the Tigers’ 31-20 win over the 22nd-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

Here is what we heard from Wiggins.

–The junior was asked about his performance, and what stood out to him. “That pick that sealed the game, that made it.” Wiggins intercepted North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye’s pass with less than three minutes left in the game. This defensive stop put the game away.

–Coming off of two back-to-back wins in Death Valley, the adrenaline in the air against North Carolina did not come to a surprise. “The last three games, the energy, just has been outstanding for the team. We have a whole lot of momentum now.”

–The dynamic and mutual respect between the Clemson offense and defense was questioned early in the year. Wiggins broke that down. “In practice our offense is pushing us, and we’re pushing them. I feel like they’re all playing a part.”

–With the seniors enduring their last game in Memorial Stadium, emotions were particularly heightened. Underclassmen who have had these impending graduates as mentors, like Nate Wiggins, were asked about their connections. “They mean everything to us, they’ve put in the work. We owe them everything, that’s why I went out there and played the game like it was my last game.”
