Herbstreit Recognizes Swinney, Clemson After Week 12

ESPN’s lead college football analyst, Kirk Herbstreit, recognized Dabo Swinney and his Clemson football team via social media this week following the Tigers’ 31-20 win over then-No. 20 North Carolina this past Saturday at Death Valley.

Each week, Herbstreit takes to X (formerly Twitter) and names his top performing teams, players and coaches from that particular week of the college football season.

This week after Week 12, Herbstreit ranked Clemson at No. 6 on his list of top performing teams, behind App State (win at James Madison), New Mexico State (win at Auburn), Washington (win at Oregon State), Kansas State (win at Kansas) and Arizona (win vs. Utah).

Clemson earned its sixth consecutive victory against North Carolina and improved to 30-12 against AP Top 25 teams in the College Football Playoff era (since 2014).

Herbstreit also put Swinney at No. 3 on his list of top performing coaches from Week 12 behind New Mexico State’s Jerry Kill and Arizona’s Jedd Fisch.

On Saturday, Swinney earned his 39th all-time victory against AP Top 25 teams. Swinney’s 38 wins against the AP Top 25 are the second-most of any coach — active or inactive — since 2009.

Clemson improved to 7-4 overall and 4-4 in league play with the victory over the Tar Heels.

The Tigers will renew their rivalry with South Carolina this weekend when the teams meet for the 120th time in series history on Saturday. Kickoff in Columbia, S.C., is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
