Clemson Remains Undefeated as Hall Sets Career-High

CLEMSON – A five-day break didn’t lead to any rust for Clemson, as the Tigers handled business with a 90-69 win over Alcorn State Friday at Littlejohn Coliseum.

Clemson center PJ Hall led the way, setting a career-high in scoring with 29 points and nine rebounds over 35 minutes. He shot 11 of 18 from the field and made two 3-pointers on the night.

Hall was just one of many Tigers to light it up behind the arc, making 39.3 percent from behind the arc with 11 makes. The pair of guards Chase Hunter and Joseph Girard III combined for 31 points and 11 assists.

The Braves’ offense was efficient against Brad Brownell’s defense, but it couldn’t compare to the rain that came down at home for Clemson. Led by Jeremiah Gambrell with 17, Alcorn State had five double-digit scorers.

After scoring 48 points in the first half, the Tigers shut down the Braves and got the win right after Thanksgiving.

THE TAKEAWAY

Shooting was the calling card for this Clemson team coming into the season and drilling eight 3-pointers in the first half was all you need to see. The schedule heats up, but Brownell’s team handling business through five games is a great sign.

IMPLICATIONS

Clemson remains undefeated five games into the season with six non-conference matchups left on the schedule.

MVP

Hall continues to dominate, and his 29 points were another example. It’s like a broken record, and he’s the catalyst for success in 2023-24.
