Following Clemson’s 16-7 win over South Carolina on Saturday night at Williams-Brice Stadium, one Tiger player took to X (formerly Twitter) to give the Gamecocks’ head coach a shoutout.
Clemson’s Blackmon Huckabee Jr., a redshirt junior receiver who joined the Tigers as a walk-on in the fall of 2021, thanked Shane Beamer for a pregame gesture that Huckabee said showed “a ton of class” on the part of South Carolina’s coach.
Huckabee is an avid singer who sang the national anthem in uniform prior to Clemson’s Military Appreciation Day win against Georgia Tech on Nov. 11, and Huckabee shared that prior to Saturday’s game, Beamer “went out of his way to personally congratulate” Huckabee on his national anthem performance:
Our state! Proud of this team for getting the win in Columbia. Before the game, @CoachSBeamer went out of his way to personally congratulate me on my performance of the National Anthem. A ton of class from a great coach for a program with a bright future. Thank you, Coach! 🙏🏼
