Clemson Parting Ways with Assistant Coach

This Clemson assistant coach will not be back on Dabo Swinney’s staff next season.

The Clemson Insider has confirmed that the Tigers are parting ways with offensive line coach Thomas Austin.

Austin spent the past two seasons as Clemson’s offensive line coach after being formally named to the position on Feb. 2, 2022.

The 2023 season marked his seventh season across two tenures with the Clemson staff including off-field roles.

Before returning to Clemson in an off-field analyst capacity in 2021, Austin spent the 2019-20 seasons as the offensive line coach at Georgia State.

Austin spent four years on Clemson’s support staff from 2015-18. He started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Clemson in 2015 and spent three years in an on-field GA role before moving to an off-field video GA position for Clemson’s 2018 national championship season.

Austin starred along Clemson’s offensive line from 2006-09, appearing in 48 games with 39 starts, including starting each of his last 38 games.

Update: Clemson announced today that in addition to Austin, defensive ends coach Lemanski Hall will not return to the Tigers’ coaching staff in 2024.
