Two Former Tigers Named to Third-Quarter All-Pro Team

A national outlet highlighted who it sees as the best players at each position heading into the stretch run of the 2023 NFL season.

Pro Football Focus named a couple of former Clemson standouts to its third-quarter All-Pro team.

One of those NFL Tigers recognized by PFF is New York Giants defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence.

“Lawrence has followed up his monster 2022 campaign with an even better season to date in 2023,” PFF’s Gordon McGuinness wrote. “He has racked up 53 total pressures, including five sacks and 11 quarterback hits, from 333 pass-rushing snaps, and his 32 tackles resulting in a defensive stop are the third most among interior defenders.”

A first-round pick (17th overall) by the Giants back in 2019, Lawrence earned Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors last season in his fourth NFL campaign, when he posted career highs with 7.5 sacks, 28 quarterback hits, 68 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, three pass breakups and two forced fumbles.

The 25-year-old was rewarded for his efforts with a well-deserved contract extension in early May, when he and the Giants agreed to a four-year, $90 million deal.

PFF also named former Tiger punter Bradley Pinion to its third-quarter All-Pro team.

Pinion, in his second season with the Atlanta Falcons, is averaging 47.8 yards per punt (41.3 net yards per punt). He has a long of 62, just a couple of touchbacks, and he’s pinned 20 of his 55 punts inside the opponent’s 20.

Prior to this season, the Falcons signed Pinion to a three-year, $8.65 million deal, making him one of the highest-paid punters in the league.

Pinion signed with the Falcons ahead of the 2022 season after being released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Before joining the Falcons, he had played with the Buccaneers since 2019 and was previously a member of the San Francisco 49ers from 2015-18 after being drafted by the 49ers in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft (165th overall).
