Clemson transfer target ranked as one of country’s best

Dabo Swinney and his staff are looking to find a boost on the offensive line in the transfer portal, and their first target is one of the most coveted transfers in the country.

Clemson was one of the first to offer Division-II Shorter transfer Alan Herron. The 6-foot-6, 310-pound sophomore holds offers from many notable programs. The Tigers are one of the many trying to land his talents.

ESPN released their rankings on the best players in the portal, and Herron was ranked near the the top at No. 12.

Herron, originally from Jamaica, is in his second season at Shorter. Tight end Kyle Morlock, a former teammate, was heavily recruited out of the transfer portal last season and enrolled at Florida State for the 2023 season. Herron has already seen his recruitment take off with offers from Auburn, Clemson, Louisville, Miami, Penn State, NC State, Texas Tech and a handful of others

Herron is not the first Shorter standout to catch the attention of many Power-5 schools, and it’s clear that his size and strength will translate to wherever he lands.

A team can never have too many reliable offensive lineman, and the Tigers landing Herron would be a massive boost for 2024.
