Expectations Exceeded in Gymnastics Exhibition

CLEMSON — Friday night at Littlejohn Coliseum, the Clemson gymnastics team took the floor for an exhibition meet.

Head coach Amy Smith spoke with the media after the meet to express her excitement for the first season of Clemson gymnastics.

–Coach Smith was full of excitement after the exhibition meet Friday evening. Smith said, “I am speechless right now because I can’t believe the day is finally here that we got to do this.” With this being the first season of gymnastics, the team wasn’t sure how big of a turnout they would get, but Smith said, “everything here far exceeded all expectations.”

–Coach Smith was asked what her gymnasts were telling her during their experience of Littlejohn and getting to perform in front of a large crowd. She said, “just how much fun they were having, how cool it was, and once again the fans make that experience so we really appreciate everyone coming out and supporting us tonight.”

–With the exhibition match being tonight, there is still a lot of training to do before the official beginning of the season. Smith said, “Tonight we didn’t do our full out…because we do have that month left to train…really, really excited to go back and train and come back out here January 12th and really hammer it hard.”
