Bryan Bresee is coming off a big day against the Carolina Panthers in Week 14, when the New Orleans Saints rookie defensive lineman was highly disruptive while posting five quarterback hurries, two QB hits and seven total pressures — the most among all rookies in Week 14.
Prior to that outstanding performance, the former Clemson star was featured in an episode of What’s Brewing on the Saints’ official YouTube channel with Saints team reporter Erin Summers.
Bresee, the Saints’ 2023 first-round pick, discussed a number of different topics – including what his “Welcome to the NFL” moment has been since he entered the league.
“I’ve gotten asked that a few times,” Bresee said. “I don’t know if there’s been one specific moment that I can really remember, but I would just kind of say playing guys that you’ve seen growing up and lining up against them, or seeing them across the field. That’s been pretty cool for me.”
Bresee is having a strong rookie year with 18 total tackles, four tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, six quarterback hits and six passes defended in 13 games.
Having played the equivalent of a college football regular season plus a postseason game, Bresee was asked how he’s holding up to this point in his first pro campaign, with several games still remaining on the Saints’ regular season schedule.
“I feel good,” Bresee said. “I think luckily for me, at Clemson, we normally had some postseason and so the season could kind of run on in college. So, not too beat up yet, still rolling.”
A three-time All-ACC selection in his three-year Clemson career (2020-22), Bresee also spoke about who he’s done postgame jersey swaps with (including Trevor Lawrence), representing his late sister with his My Cause My Cleats campaign, how he’s adjusting to the culture in his new home and more.
“It’s been good. I’ve loved every minute of it,” Bresee said of playing in New Orleans. “My family loves coming down and hanging out, and my mom’s basically moved into my apartment now. But it’s been great just being down here, especially just being around the city, being around all the guys on the team. It’s been wonderful.”
