Bad news for Trevor Lawrence, as the former Clemson star and Jacksonville Jaguars’ franchise quarterback is dealing with another injury.
Lawrence has entered the NFL’s concussion protocol following a hit he took late in the Jaguars’ loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night, per Jags head coach Doug Pederson.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport spoke about Lawrence and the situation during the network’s Good Morning Football show on Monday morning.
“For the Jacksonville Jaguars, not a good (injury) for next week,” Rapoport said. “Trevor Lawrence was placed in the NFL’s concussion protocol, according to Doug Pederson — this from a hit that he took late in the fourth quarter. Now we do not know how players are going to react from a concussion, and all concussions are different. But certainly this does open up the possibility that when the Jaguars play the Buccaneers next week, it is going to be CJ Beathard.”
Lawrence, who has made 48 straight regular season starts to begin his NFL career, threw for 264 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions on Sunday against the Ravens while also rushing four times for 41 yards.
This season, the 2021 No. 1 overall pick has passed for 3,525 yards and 18 touchdowns with 10 interceptions.
