Clemson Comes Through with WR Cavalry

Dabo Swinney and Tyler Grisham worked magic at the wide receiver position in the 2024 cycle, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.

With the loss of Beaux Collins to the transfer portal, Clemson found itself without a true outside receiver but that dilemma will last just through the bowl game. On early signing day, the Tigers will bring in a duo of receivers to change the tempo.

Five-star Bryant Wesco and four-star TJ Moore are the cavalry Clemson has needed, and Swinney made this happen over the summer. Following official visits, both made the decision to join the Tigers on the same day June 6.

Looking at both receivers, it’s a perfect fit. Each stand over 6-foot-2 at least as measurables won’t be exact until the duo arrives on campus. The talent level is clear, as Wesco ranks as one of Clemson’s highest commitments in the position in program history, and he was dominant as a senior.

Wesco finished the season with 19 touchdowns and he’ll bring that knack for scoring to the Tigers. He only sits behind Sammy Watkins and Deon Cain in rankings for Clemson wide receiver commits. That sets a high bar for the Midlothian (TX) standout.

Turning to Moore, he made an exponential rise up the recruiting ranks in the last year, but the Tigers called dibs in his mind before everyone else arrived. Once a three-star recruit, Moore flipped the switch and flew up to be ranked in the top 100 and he brings that growth to Clemson.

Listed as an inch taller than Wesco, we’ll have to see how it translates but the big-play potential of both youngsters is what Garrett Riley has yearned for in this offense. Enter this young duo, and the Tigers could have the stars it needs to threaten defenses with their outside receivers.
