A future Clemson running back collected more big honors this week.

Liberty Christian Academy (Lynchburg, Va.)’s Gideon Davidson was named the 2023 MaxPreps Virginia High School Football Player of the Year.

Davidson was also named the 2023 MaxPreps National Junior of the Year.

A four-star prospect in the class of 2025, Davidson committed to Clemson on June 14, 2023.

The 6-foot, 195-pound junior rushed for more than 2,700 yards and 43 touchdowns while leading Liberty Christian to a 14-0 record and VHSL Class 3 state title.

Davidson’s monster campaign also earned him Offensive Player of the Year by the Virginia High School League, as well as first-team running back. On top of his offensive success, he earned first-team as a defensive back.

Davidson is ranked as high as the No. 46 overall prospect in the country for the 2025 class by ESPN, which ranks him as the nation’s No. 3 running back in the class.
