Garrett Riley just finished his first season as Clemson’s offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach, and it’s safe to say he came away impressed by the Tigers’ fan base after his first year in Tiger Town.
On Saturday, following Clemson’s 38-35 win over Kentucky in Friday’s Gator Bowl, Riley took to X (formerly Twitter) and gave a shout-out to Tiger fans for their support in Jacksonville on Friday and throughout the 2023 season.
“Truly a SPECIAL fan base,” Riley wrote.
Once again đ to the Clemson fans Showing Out for our guys at the Gator Bowl and throughout the Season! Truly a SPECIAL fan base đ đ

Riley was formally hired by Clemson back on Jan. 13, 2023, after spending last year as TCU’s offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach and serving two seasons at SMU from 2020-21 in the same role.
While his first season with the Tigers presented its share of challenges, Riley and company concluded the 2023 campaign on a high note in the Gator Bowl. The 38 points Clemson put up against Kentucky mark the second-most that the Tigers scored against a Power Five opponent this season, and Clemsonâs 28 points in the fourth quarter mark Clemsonâs most in a fourth quarter in its bowl history.
