The South Carolina football program got some bad news Tuesday.
The Gamecocks are losing this highly regarded talent to the NCAA transfer portal.
Grayson “Pup” Howard is headed out of Columbia after one season, as the freshman linebacker announced via social media that he is entering the portal.
In his first and only year with the Gamecocks, Howard played in 11 games and posted 19 tackles, a tackle for loss and a forced fumble.
A former four-star prospect, the 6-foot-4, 241-pounder from Jacksonville, Florida’s Andrew Jackson High was ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 9 linebacker and No. 115 overall prospect in the 2023 recruiting class.
