This national outlet sees a projected first-round pick from Clemson as the perfect fit for one NFL team.
With the 2023 college football season coming to a close and the 2024 NFL Draft drawing a little bit closer, Pro Football Focus identified one perfect draft prospect for each team in the league.
For the Indianapolis Colts, PFF pegged Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins as that perfect prospect.
“Wiggins might be the top cornerback in this draft for defensive coordinators to point to a receiver and say, “Don’t let them catch the ball.” At 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, Wiggins has the length to handle receivers of all shapes and sizes,” PFF’s Trevor Sikkema wrote. “The Colts are young at cornerback, but they still need a premium CB1 type. That can be Wiggins.”
A widely projected first-round pick, Wiggins declared for the draft in late November and didn’t play in the Tigers’ bowl game after a strong junior season that saw him earn first-team All-ACC honors.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder tallied 25 tackles (one for loss), a team-high nine pass breakups, two forced fumbles, one sack and two interceptions (one of which he returned 46 yards for his second career touchdown) over 10 games (seven starts).
In his career at Clemson from 2021-23, Wiggins recorded 50 tackles (3.0 for loss), 24 pass breakups, three interceptions (including two returned for touchdowns), two forced fumbles, a sack and a blocked field goal over 34 games (18 starts).
The 2024 NFL Draft is scheduled to be held in Detroit from April 25–27.
