Clemson Moves Up in Power 36 Ahead of Huge ACC Showdown This Week

NCAA.com’s Andy Katz released his new Power 36 rankings this week.

The Clemson men’s basketball team (11-1, 1-0 ACC) moved up three spots from No. 17 to No. 14 in Katz’s latest Power 36.

The Tigers won the lone game they played last week, a 93-58 rout of Radford at Littlejohn Coliseum on Friday to close the 2023 calendar year and the non-conference schedule.

Clemson returns to action on Wednesday, playing at Miami to start the rest of the ACC schedule. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. and will air on ESPN.

After that, the Tigers will return home for a huge showdown against North Carolina on Saturday (12 p.m., ESPN2).

Katz named that contest the No. 1 game to watch for the week of Jan. 1.

“The Tar Heels and Tigers are two of the top four teams in the ACC,” Katz wrote. “This game could matter in March for breaking a potential log jam atop the conference heading into the ACC tournament.”

North Carolina stayed at No. 5 in Katz’s latest Power 36. Besides Clemson, the only other ACC team in his latest Power 36 is Duke (No. 10).

Clemson is ranked No. 16 in the latest AP Top 25 Poll.
