Former Tiger Balls Out in Career Night

A former Clemson standout balled out in the NBA G League this week.

Denver Nuggets rookie Hunter Tyson scored a career-high 34 points for the Grand Rapids Gold in a loss to the Birmingham Squadron on Tuesday.

Tyson made 11-of-18 shots from the field and added eight rebounds with a steal.

It was the second 30-point game in the G League for Tyson, who was the 37th overall pick of the 2023 NBA Draft. He has appeared in eight games with the Nuggets, posting two points, five rebounds and one assist.

Tyson, who played the last five years at Clemson, is averaging 23.5 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists in the G League this season.

Tyson earned first-team All-ACC honors after putting together a career year at Clemson last season when he averaged a team-best 15.3 points and 9.6 rebounds per game while shooting 47.9 percent from the floor, 40.5 percent from 3 and 83.8 percent at the free throw line. He collected 16 double-doubles, tying him for eighth all-time in Clemson history for a single season.

Tyson, just the 17th Tiger ever to eclipse 1,000 points and 600 rebounds in a career, became the all-time games played leader in Clemson history last season.
