A former Clemson tight end took to social media on Monday and announced his new transfer destination.
Sage Ennis revealed via X (formerly Twitter) that he has committed to Virginia.
Following four years in the Clemson football program, Ennis entered the transfer portal after the 2023 regular season and originally committed to transfer to Florida A&M.
But with former Florida A&M head coach and former Tiger Willie Simmons recently taking a new job as the running backs coach at Duke, Ennis is now headed to play for former Clemson assistant Tony Elliott at UVA.
Elliott, of course the former Clemson offensive coordinator, was also Ennis’ tight ends coach for the Tigers in 2021.
Ennis caught six career passes for 77 yards in 449 offensive snaps over 41 games (two starts) at Clemson from 2020-23.
This season, as a redshirt junior, the 6-foot-4, 240-pounder had three receptions for 52 yards in 171 snaps over 10 games (one start). He was also a trusted blocker in the running game prior to suffering a season-ending knee injury vs. Georgia Tech on Nov. 11.
