Florida OL Has ‘Very High’ Clemson Interest, Excited for Elite Junior Day

This standout offensive lineman from the Sunshine State is set to visit Clemson later this month.

Gavin Blanchard, a class of 2025 recruit from Jesuit High School (Tampa, Fla.), will be back on campus for the Tigers’ Jan. 27 elite junior day.

“I am very much looking forward to being at Clemson and spending time with the staff,” Blanchard told The Clemson Insider. “I’m hoping to get an offer on junior day.”

Blanchard has camped at Clemson multiple times and most recently traveled to Tiger Town for the Florida State and Notre Dame games this season.

The 6-foot-3, 300-pounder has been communicating frequently with the Tigers and new offensive line coach Matt Luke.

“I text with coach Luke daily and we try to keep in close contact by call pretty often,” Blanchard said. “And I talk to other members of the OL staff very often. Their interest level in me is very high, as I have been told before I am one of the top interior linemen on their recruiting board.”

That interest is certainly shared by Blanchard, who would love to add Dabo Swinney’s program to his offer list that currently includes Louisville, Indiana, UAB and Middle Tennessee State.

“One thing I know about Clemson is they have the man to win being coach Swinney, and I feel like they were a few really, really close games away from being considered an elite team,” Blanchard said. “But I’m impressed on how they stuck together till the end to end the season with a big win streak. I think that will lead them back to where they want to go and that was the first step back.”

“My interest level in them is very high,” he continued. “It’s always been one of my favorite schools growing up, so getting an offer would mean a lot.”

Blanchard has a tie to the Tigers, as his high school teammate, linebacker Drew Woodaz, signed with Clemson in December and will enroll this summer.

“Me and Drew are good friends,” Blanchard said. “I respect him a lot as a leader on the team, and he pushed me to make me better so I can step into that role next year.”
