The 2024 NFL Draft is scheduled to be held in Detroit from April 25–27.
ESPN released a new 2024 NFL mock draft this week (subscription required), with ESPN draft analyst Jordan Reid giving his predictions for the first round as we draw closer to the actual 2024 NFL Draft in three months.
Reid’s new mock draft has one former Clemson standout coming off the board in the first round. Reid projected cornerback Nate Wiggins to be selected by the Green Bay Packers with the 19th overall pick.
“The Packers have used only one first-round pick on offense (Jordan Love) over the past decade, and I’m projecting more of the same in 2024,” Reid wrote. “Wiggins is a long and polished prospect who primarily plays on the outside. A strong argument could be made that he has the best technique in this cornerback class, and he has the movement skills and instincts to suffocate matchups in coverage. The trade of Rasul Douglas at the deadline left Green Bay thin in the secondary, and the Packers allowed 8.3 yards per attempt this season (22nd in the NFL). Over the past two seasons, Wiggins broke up 17 passes and picked off three.”
In his career at Clemson from 2021-23, Wiggins recorded 50 tackles (3.0 for loss), 24 pass breakups, three interceptions (including two returned for touchdowns), two forced fumbles, a sack and a blocked field goal over 34 games (18 starts).
Wiggins earned first-team All-ACC honors as a junior this season, when the 6-foot-2, 185-pounder tallied 25 tackles (one for loss), a team-high nine pass breakups, two forced fumbles, one sack and two interceptions (one of which he returned 46 yards for his second career touchdown) over 10 games (seven starts).
