The 2024 NFL Draft will take place in Detroit from April 25–27.
This week, an ESPN insider/draft analyst released his ranking of NFL draft prospects, debuting his top 25 overall prospects in the 2024 draft class along with who he sees as the best players at each position.
ESPN’s Field Yates currently ranks former Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins as the No. 13 overall prospect ahead of April’s draft.
“While Wiggins’ frame and blazing speed — we’re talking sprinter speed — are enough to draw you in, there’s much more to his game,” Yates wrote. “He plays with extreme confidence, an essential ingredient for a man-to-man coverage corner. And the difference between a talented football player and an effective football player is often effort, which can never be questioned for Wiggins. He never gives up on a play. Wiggins finished 2023 with two picks and six pass breakups.”
As for Yates’ positional rankings, he has Wiggins as the No. 1 cornerback in this year’s draft class ahead of Alabama’s Terrion Arnold.
Yates also ranked two other former Clemson stars among the top draft prospects at their respective positions in Will Shipley and Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Shipley is the No. 4 running back in Yates’ rankings behind Texas’s Jonathon Brooks at No. 1, Florida State’s Trey Benson at No. 2 and Southern Cal’s MarShawn Lloyd at No. 3.
Trotter, meanwhile, is the No. 3 linebacker according to Yates behind Texas A&M’s Edgerrin Cooper at No. 1 and Michigan’s Junior Colson at No. 2.
