Two Tigers Ranked Near the Top in the Country

The Clemson defensive tackle room featured great play from both a veteran and the new blood for the future.

Tyler Davis was the anchor in the middle and earned first-team All-ACC honors yet again. He finished the season with 34 total tackles and 3.5 for loss.

Those numbers might not flash off the page, but the dirty work he does will. Pro Football Focus includes that in its grades, and that’s why he was one of the highest in the country.

Right in front of Davis was freshman phenom Peter Woods. Expectations can have many impacts, but Woods took it and became a key piece quickly.

Named a freshman All-American by multiple outlets, he finished the season with 25 tackles and 2.5 for loss. With the departure of Davis and Ruke Orhorhoro, the pressure is on Woods to take over the role in the middle of the Tigers front.

Following his success and the respect garnered by PFF’s grade, there’s no reason to believe Woods won’t step up to the plate again.
