It’s normally not until the early 20’s when football players are representing NFL teams, but a rare occasion has a future Clemson Tiger doing just that.
2025 four-star running back Gideon Davidson was honored during the Washington Conmanders’ Week 18 game, and he’ll be representing the team at the Nike NFL event before the Super Bowl. He was dominant as a junior with over 2,700 rushing yards and 43 touchdowns, which earned him the opportunity.
Davidson caught up with The Clemson Insider to talk about the opportunity, and it was something like he’s never experienced before.
“Getting that award was something else. It was a great honor and I’m very blessed to receive it. Also the attention at the Washington game was incredible I’ve never experienced anything like that before. Our whole group had so much fun. I’m very excited to be representing them in Las Vegas before the Super Bowl,” Davidson said.
The 6-foot, 195-pound back went to the Commanders game with fellow members of the Liberty Christian Academy program, and it was an all-around great weekend for one of Clemson’s top 2025 commits.
Speaking of memorable weekends, Davidson also gave his reaction to the Tigers’ thriller in the Gator Bowl. To no surprise, he was most excited about Phil Mafah’s dominance on the ground, something he’ll hope to match at Clemson.
“It’s was very encouraging seeing Clemson end on a good note. Coach Swinney and the staff had put together a balanced offensive game plan that made the offense look dangerous. Cade led a great final drive. It was also encouraging to see the running backs do an amazing job,” Davidson said.
It’s a busy month ahead for Davidson, who will be back on campus for the Elite Junior Day Jan. 27. He’s one of multiple Tigers commits that will be in attendance as the stock keeps going up for one of Virginia’s most explosive high school players.
