Could Higgins Reunite with Former Clemson Teammates in the NFL?

Could this current NFL star suit up once again with two of his former Clemson teammates?

Pro Football Focus named one free agent each NFL team should go after this offseason, and for the Jacksonville Jaguars, PFF pointed to Tee Higgins as the player Jacksonville should pursue.

Of course, if Higgins ended up joining the Jags, the talented wideout would be reunited with quarterback Trevor Lawrence and running back Travis Etienne. The three were teammates at Clemson and helped lead the Tigers to the 2018 national title.

Higgins is an impending free agent after playing out the final year of his rookie contract with the Cincinnati Bengals.

“Styles win fights, but they also help round out passing attacks. And that’s exactly what Higgins would do in Jacksonville,” PFF’s Gordon McGuinness wrote. “Calvin Ridley saw 22 contested targets for the Jaguars in 2023, a facet in which Higgins has proven he can win as an NFL wideout. He caught 57.6% of his contested targets in 2022 and has proven himself to be a borderline No. 1 receiver when healthy.”

Higgins posted back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons in 2021 and 2022 and has proven to be a big-time playmaker, but the fourth-year pro’s production dropped off this season as he dealt with injuries. The 6-foot-4, 219-pounder played in a career-low 12 games while catching 42 passes for 656 yards and five touchdowns.

Drafted by the Bengals in the second round (33rd overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft, Higgins has hauled in 257 receptions for 3,684 yards and 24 touchdowns during his NFL career to date.
