The wide receiver corps will look drastically different from 2023 to 2024, and Clemson has cavalry coming in both freshmen and returns from injury.
It’s still very early, but we have a decent picture of what the Tigers will look like once the season gets into swing.
Let’s start with the returning talent. Cole Turner will be back as well as Antonio Williams, who both were out for a majority of the season. Williams was the leading receiver in 2022, so expectations will be high for him. That brings us to Tyler Brown, who burst onto the scene as a freshman this season with 52 catches for 531 yards and four touchdowns.
While it’s mostly a returning group, the loss of Beaux Collins is a challenging one that Clemson has the means to mitigate nonetheless. All the receivers mentioned are at their best in the slot, which draws some concern. That leads us to Troy Stellato, who is likely the surest hands on the roster. He had 31 catches for 321 yards and a touchdown, but he’ll have much more responsibilities this year. Adam Randall had flashes at the end of the season, but consistency is the key for him to make a massive impact
All that’s left of the main cast is the incoming freshmen: five-star Bryant Wesco and four-star TJ Moore. The latter was a star in the All-American Bowl, his stock keeps rising. He lined up all around the field in that game, and he can bring that versatility to Clemson. Moore mocks as the savior for the jump-ball deficiency the Tigers had last year, standing at 6-foot-3 with impressive length and catch radius. Wesco will primarily line up in the slot, and could bring a lot of production early.
It’s hard to put that much pressure on freshmen, but we’ve seen how Clemson first-year receivers produce a multitude of times in the last decade. With that in mind, here’s the prediction for the depth chart for Week 1 as well as by season’s end.
