4-Star Texas OL ‘Just Knew’ Clemson the Place for Him

New offensive line coach Matt Luke is already paying dividends for Clemson in recruiting, and one of the O-linemen he helped the Tigers land this past weekend is Jaylan Beckley.

Luke, head coach Dabo Swinney and company were fired up when the four-star class of 2025 prospect from Trinity Christian Academy (Addison, Texas) gave Clemson his verbal pledge while on campus for Saturday’s elite junior day.

“The entire staff was extremely excited when I announced my commitment,” Beckley told The Clemson Insider. “It was a really special moment!”

The 6-foot-5, 305-pound junior chose the Tigers over a ton of other offers, including schools such as Baylor, LSU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU, Texas A&M, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia and Tennessee to name some.

This past weekend marked Beckley’s second time at Clemson after he camped there last June, when he picked up an offer from Swinney’s program.

It’s hard for Beckley to put into words, but when he was back in Tiger Town over the weekend, he became sure that it’s where he wanted to call home for college.

“I have been praying this past year that God would show me what school was the place for me,” he said. “I can’t quite describe the feeling I had but once I stepped back on campus, I felt that prayer answered and I just knew.”

Beckley was accompanied on his latest visit to Clemson by his mother, allowing them to share a special moment when he made his big college decision.

“She really enjoyed herself as well,” he said, “and it was an emotional moment with her after I committed.”

What were the best parts of the elite junior day experience for Beckley personally?

“The highlight for me was just getting so much quality time with the coaches and the other recruits,” he said. “And the amount of information we got. I feel like I got all my questions answered and I had a great time!”

Along with Beckley, Clemson scored a commitment from Buford (Ga.) High School four-star Brayden Jacobs this past weekend.

Jacobs and Beckley join Liberty Christian Academy (Lynchburg, Va.) four-star Easton Ware as the current offensive line pledges in the Tigers’ 2025 class, which ranks among the nation’s top five classes right now according to multiple recruiting services.

Clemson continues to build a strong collection of talent, and Beckley believes the class will turn out to be a great one.

“This ’25 class is truly shaping up to be something special,” he said. “I have full confidence in these guys that I look forward to calling my teammates!”
